The Festival of Nine Nights...Navarathri

       It has been a really long time since my last blog update. In the past few years, with the big life changes, I've somehow had time to try new crafts. I've wanted to update my blog about all these for quite sometime. What better time than now to start it all over again!

       From a young age, setting up a Golu during Navarathri with a new theme every year gave me a reason to do something new and creative. This year I decided to try making my own dolls for the Golu. I did not have the traditional Chettiar dolls and some research on the internet gave me ideas for a cute doll set.


The inspiration from completing the first set paved way for a Jhula Krishna with a pot of butter. I used the scrap yarn from my knitting projects to decorate the Jhula and made a small knitted blanket to spread in it for the doll.


It was very satisfying to have home made dolls for the festival :)
