Who does not like gifts! After
buying a bunch of gifts this holiday season, I was inspired to make my own
custom Origami gift boxes. They were very easy and fun to make. I started off
using the gift wrap sheets and ended up painting my own gift wraps making it a
complete DIY project. The boxes held together perfectly in shape and I did not
even have to use glue anywhere. I could
choose colours, patterns and custom sizes according to my gifts and did not
have to go in search of boxes for everything.

Winter Amethyst Monochrome
This scarf will always be close to
my heart because it is my first ever knitting work. The first time I learnt how
to hold the needles, cast on and start knitting - It’s still fresh in my
memory. The vintage yarn transformed into a beautiful scarf as the knits and
purls increased.
I decided to make a beanie to go along with it as it would be
a nice combo for my winter collection. I wanted to experiment working on monochromes
and found this lovely pattern. I
finished it just in time for winter and a visit from Olaf ;)

The Green Scarfie
When you do not find
any greenery around you, make a green patch yourself. A scarf to be one with the Oaks – the only trees
surrounding me, withstanding the cold, snow- filled winter.
The blend of wool and acrylic gives
the scarf a very soft texture and keeps me warm. Alternating knits and purls creates these stitches resembling the
yummy waffles. Wish there was a way to include the Maple Syrup and whipped cream to
it ;)

Flower Power
I love flowers – fragrance, color, beauty and everything
about them. So when the Origami bug bit me, flowers were the first thing I
would do, obviously. It is a simple craft that doesn’t require a lot of
materials and could be done anywhere, anytime. I made these lovely colorful
flowers a couple of years back for Navarathri. Now they are happily living with
my mom and every time I go home, I look at them and feel nostalgic…Those were
the days!

Knitted Coasters
There is a first time to everything. And this first is to the simple
pattern I wrote to make these cute knitted coasters using just the Garter and
Stockinette stitches. It is a quick win pattern that has a soft and firm centre to hold the mugs with a slightly raised bordering on all sides. Peaches and Crème
had the perfect colored cotton yarn to match my cookware. They are a wonderful option to bring in more colors and improve the decor of your dining area.

A Thanksgiving Gift...
What is the
need for a standard boring tablet cover when you can a make a funky one
yourself! This is one
of the patterns that inspired me to learn the art of crochet. With a lot of
single crochet stitches lined up, grew the Tawny Owl. With the addition of the
large eyes and the beak, it looked complete.
Thanks to
the JoAnn outlet for the pattern, I was able to make a nice Thanksgiving gift
for my husband. Happy Thanksgiving! The holiday season is here!!

Autumn Vibes
When there are pumpkins everywhere around you and the buttery
yellow, amber orange and crimson red hues overwhelm you, you tend to go with
the flow and bring in more of the same splash of colors to the house. It’s Autumn!!
This is my first solid piece of Crochet work! Here's to many more Crochet projects in the future!

Keep Calm and Cast On!
Knitting has become my latest
addiction. With so many colors and varieties of yarn and a lot more patterns
and things to make, it has become never ending.
The happiness watching a beautiful yarn turn into a pretty design is priceless.
And then it’s time to show off your recent masterpiece :)
Trees hold on to the leaves with the hope that spring will once
again give a new life full of vibrant energy.
Let go, trees. It helps you grow.

The Festival of Nine Nights...Navarathri
It has been a really long time since my last blog update. In the past few years, with the big life changes, I've somehow had time to try new crafts. I've wanted to update my blog about all these for quite sometime. What better time than now to start it all over again!
From a young age, setting up a Golu during Navarathri with a new theme every year gave me a reason to do something new and creative. This year I decided to try making my own dolls for the Golu. I did not have the traditional Chettiar dolls and some research on the internet gave me ideas for a cute doll set.
The inspiration from completing the first set paved way for a Jhula Krishna with a pot of butter. I used the scrap yarn from my knitting projects to decorate the Jhula and made a small knitted blanket to spread in it for the doll.
It was very satisfying to have home made dolls for the festival :)
